Itinerary (very rough draft)
Refer to the ‘Calendar‘ tab for an overview of daily events; and the ‘Detail‘ tab for addition info.
01 Sep, 1700 - Depart BDL
I did a quick check with Delta.
BDL – LHR (Heathrow). About a 15hr flight w/ anywhere from a 2 to 6 hour layover in ATL. Assume: Depart BDL 5p, Arrive LHR 11:10a
Examples: BDL – LHR
5:05a – 11:10a 7:05a – 1:15P 11:50a – 6:25a
02 Sep, 1130 - Arrive LHR
For the purposes of this sample itinerary, I’ll assume we arrive at Heathrow about 11:30a.
02 Sep, 1130-1700 Hotel checkin
Assuming from the airport to the hotel (TBD) will take a couple of hours. Lets say we’re all check in and hungry by 1730.
02 Sep, 1700 ->
Set something to eat. Enjoy the evening.
03 Sep, Buckingham Palace (4 hrs)
Need to allot about 3-4 hours total to/from Buckingham Palace. This is one of those sites, I’d like to see, but it depends on ticket availability, crowds, etc. Need to sign up for the tour
03 Sep, Thames or Bus (2-3 hrs)
Might be an okay way to see some of the city. Have to sign up
03 Sep, Later afternoon-Evening
Relax. Nice meal at a ‘better’ restaurant (but w/o reservations?)
04 Sep, Stonehenge (all-day)
This is a maybe trip. Spend a whole day just to see some rocks? Still………
This is an ALL-DAY trip to Stonehenge and Windsor Castle. Need to sign up for the tour
05 Sep, Open (all day)
Whatever else we’d like to fit into our agenda..
06 Sep, 0900-1300 (Fly to Dublin)
About a 1 hr 30 min flight. Lots of flight available. 0900-1300 to include transportation times at both ends.
06 Sep, 1300-1400 Hotel checkin
06 Sep, 1400-> Open
A good chunk of the day is still in front of us. Investigate one/two ‘tourist’ type things to do? (along with something to eat!)
07 Sep, Cliffs of Moher (all day)
Need to sign up for a tour.
This is someone like Stonehenge, a whole-day just to go see some sea-side cliffs?
Yes?
08 Sep, Open
Depending on what we were able to “see” on the 6th (same day we arrived in Dublin), this is an extra day to just see more local sites. (or schedule to leave for Edinburgh on the 8th vs 9th (meaning an extra day in Edinburgh?) assume we lock in our flights in/out of London.
09 Sep, DUB - EDI
Flights about 1 hr 20 min; not as frequent as LHR – DUB; maybe one every three hours.
Let’s say depart DUB 7:50a, arrive EDI 9:05a
09 Sep, Hotel check in/ relax
This is do we try to do Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat on the same day? or split them up. Option here to just enjoy the rest of the day here and walk around, eat, relax. But still, potential time to relax even if we do one of the events.
10 Sep, Arthur's Seat (3-4 hrs)
Need to work on the logistics a bit if we going to try to see the castle the same day. But morning might be better (depending on weather) for Arthur’s Seat?
10 Sep, Edinburgh Castle (3-4 hrs)
Maybe closer to 3 hrs. But need to consider transportation/ tour availability and times.
This is potentially why it might make more sense just to do Arthur’s Seat one day and Edinburgh Castle the next.
11 Sep, Train to London (avg: 5 hrs)
Too challenging to go to the airport from here. Recommend one more night in London and fly to BDL in the morning.
11 Sep, London (open)
Eat/relax
12 Sep, LHR-BDL (12 hrs)
Flights about 11 hrs., with one stop somewhere!
12 Sep, Arrive BDL (6:40p)
Guess arrival based on 11 hour flight.
If we had more time.....
Edinburgh, Dublin or England?
Maybe not practical, but it would be fun if we had the time (and means of getting there/back).

Just thought this would be neat.

Not something we’d get around to doing.. hence — if we had more time!
